In excel, learn how to take a single column of feet, inches, and fractional inches and use the custom function feet () to convert to decimal feet and back I have this bit of formula that converts a decimal form of feet/inches to feet and inches, but it doesnt want to convert 12 to 1 ft for some odd reason. Or would it be necessary to have multiple columns (such as feet & inches) with a 3rd column to concatenate the values with the desired punctuation/in the desired format

Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this. Is there a formula or formulas that can be used for a data set with varying numbers of characters? I have values displayed in decimal feet which i have converted to metres with no issues, but i now have to display this in inches and fractions as well as feet, inches and fractions.
I have an excel spreadsheet with a column of lengths in the format of 12' 6 7/8
How can i use excel to convert this to decimal feet? For those not familiar with this it is used to write imperial dimensions in the ffiiss format where f is number of feet, i is number if inches, and s is sixteenths of an inch For example you would write 1' 6 1/2 (one foot, six and a half inches) as 10608 another example 23' 7 3/4 would be 230712 I am trying to convert fraction feet and inches to decimal feet (or inches whatever is easier)
The possible situations include inches with fractions b3, whole inches b5, feet and fractional inches b6, feet and whole inches b8 Following from my previous post, i think this may be useful to you How do i convert a feet and inches value to a decimal value
